Few cities pack in as much variety as Da Nang. In a single day you can ride a cable car to a mountaintop, swim at a world-class beach, and watch a bridge breathe fire over the river at night. Here are the best things to do in Da Nang — and, just as usefully, how to string them together into one perfect day.

A perfect day in Da Nang: from mountain to river
The easiest way to see the best of the city is to follow the day from the hills down to the water. Here’s the route we’d plan:
• Morning — Ride the cable car up to Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge early, before the heat and the crowds. Spend the morning in the cool mountain air among the gardens, the French Village and the famous giant stone hands.
• Midday — Head back down toward the city. If you’ve still got energy, break the trip at the Marble Mountains for cave temples and coastal viewpoints, then cool off with a swim at My Khe Beach or a rest at your hotel.
• Early evening — Come into the Hai Chau city centre for dinner. After a big day out, Ky Vat on Le Hong Phong is an ideal place to refuel — modern Vietnamese cooking in an intimate, air-conditioned room, a few minutes’ walk from the river.
• After dinner — On a Saturday or Sunday, wander over to the Dragon Bridge for the 9pm fire-and-water show, then take the long way back along the lit-up Han River waterfront.
• Nightcap — Finish with a craft cocktail at Keepsake, the speakeasy hidden one floor above Ky Vat — the easiest possible end to a full day.
That single thread — mountain, city, river — gives you Da Nang’s greatest hits in one satisfying loop. Below, each stop in a little more detail.

The best things to do in Da Nang
Ride up to Ba Na Hills & the Golden Bridge
A record-breaking cable car carries you to a cool mountaintop resort and the famous Golden Bridge, held aloft by two giant stone hands. It’s touristy but genuinely spectacular, and best tackled early as a half- or full-day outing.
See the Dragon Bridge breathe fire
Da Nang’s golden dragon isn’t just for show — on Saturday and Sunday nights at 9pm it breathes real fire and water. Grab a riverside spot early; it’s the city’s signature free spectacle, right in the heart of the centre.
Explore the Marble Mountains
A cluster of five marble-and-limestone hills honeycombed with caves, Buddhist shrines and hidden pagodas. Climb or take the lift to the viewpoints for sweeping looks over the coastline.
Relax on My Khe Beach
Regularly ranked among Asia’s finest, My Khe is a long, clean stretch of soft sand and warm water. Come at sunrise to watch fishermen work their round basket boats, or settle in for an easy afternoon.
Visit the Lady Buddha at Linh Ung Pagoda
On the Son Tra Peninsula stands the tallest Buddha statue in Vietnam, gazing serenely out to sea from a hillside temple. Peaceful, free, and easily combined with a scenic loop of the peninsula.

Tips for getting around
• Use Grab — cars and motorbike taxis are cheap and everywhere.
• Save the Dragon Bridge show for a Saturday or Sunday night (9pm).
• Start outdoor activities early; midday heat is intense in summer.
